A Complete Tutorial For Writing A Dissertation Hypothesis

Your dissertation is vital for your future career and education, so you have to make sure that every piece of it is perfect before you submit it. Indeed, the process is long and very often you will find yourself exhausted, but in the end it will be worth it. Before you can even think about the composition itself, you have to create a hypothesis and present it to your supervisor. How do you do this?

  • Choose your topic. Before you can start working on your hypothesis, you need to have a clear topic in your mind. If you think that choosing a light topic is the way to success, you are wrong. Many of your colleagues will try the same thing and your professor will realize that you did not want to put too much effort into this. You have to be innovative and think outside the box. Search for a topic that is not common among your colleagues and make some research on it, until you find all the information that you need.
  • Think about the purpose of your dissertation. Now that you have the topic, you have to know what are you trying to prove with your composition. What is the final goal? What are you hoping to find out after you make your research and experiments? You will have to mention all this in the hypothesis so your professors know what to expect.
  • Write the actual piece. The length of your hypothesis depends on the length of your dissertation. You can write one or two pages if you think that this is enough, but you can also write six pages if there is a lot of information. Either way, make sure you don’t go into too many details. This is just an additional piece and not the main composition.
  • Discuss about the experiment that you will make. In this piece you will have to explain briefly how are you planning to prove your hypothesis, not only what is the expected result. For example, you can say that you will make research in specific books and try to find out why something happens in a certain way. Also, you can put together an experiment and try to use it as the center piece for your dissertation. The more innovative you are in this part, the happier your teachers will be.
