CANVASES

Duce has been painting many subjects during his artistic career. He feels that as an artist one
becomes an observer of life documenting all  of the experiences that one has had and compares
them to what one sees occur around them. Social conditioning and social status are two of the
most astute observations that the artist has  made. His fascination with the social programing
that us humans receive during our life time has resulted in an extensive body of work  that
documents our social structure and highlights the "Status Quo" . In this body of work he pokes fun
at the common ideology and raises this question, are we really free or is all the social
programing that we receive since birth used as a control mechanism to keep everyone in a social
order?.
Women have appeared in paintings since man/women learned to paint. Duce pays an homage to
women kind and represents them as sensual and powerful beings. Duce has incorporated his
painting of women into his" Heart Series". In this series he explores the many facets of the
human heart and how lust and greed can lead to a world of confusion.
Graffiti was Duce's first inspiration for creating art and continues to have a big influence in his
work.  He feels that graffiti is pure like water and has yet to be tainted and stifled by societies
Ideals. When asked  what he likes about graffiti he stated, " We're not like other artists locked up
in studios. We are out there in the elements risking our lives to voice our opinion. We're pretty
much muralists with an uncontrollable beast, not confined to museums or galleries, Were
documenting the world and painting reality, not landscapes and flowers. We have something to
say about the world.  To create is to destroy and by destroying we create and because graffiti is
constantly reinventing it self there will always be graffiti in the world."
The following paintings were commissioned by the Clippers organization .
