Biography There was never a question that Giselle Ruiz was an Artist. Since The age of five she has been winning contest and excelling at what she does best, create art. At the age of eleven her art was featured on post cards for APCH (A Place Called Home, a non-profit organization). During the same time she painted her first mural. An amazing sight of 6’ x 185’. Which was accomplished in one year. Giselle has won four consecutive scholarships to the Ryman Art Program for young artist at the University of Southern California in 2003-2004. She won 3rd place in the Congressional Arts competition in 2004 and received an honorable mention. In 2004 she also won the California Governors medal for Art, a summer scholarship at CAL Art’s CSSSA (California State Summer School for the Arts) program and the First APCH art competition where she receive the first place prize of $800.00 cash and the opportunity to recreate her winning piece in mural form. At only 18 years of age Giselle has achieved what she has set her sights on. Her love for the arts transcends drawing and painting. Giselle also has a passion for acting and singing and has performed leading roles in several plays and musicals such as Les Miserable, Guys and Dolls, The Fantastics, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Confessions of Women in East L.A., and Shadow of a Man. She has recently graduated from Saint Mathias High School and will be attending the University of California, Riverside this fall 2005. |
